entrance the armoury museum in trondheim medieval building

I was in Trondheim a while back, and I began the day by visiting the military museum there.

Located in a very old building in the Archbishops yard close to the Nidarosdomen Cathedral, this museum can trace its roots back to 1826, making it one of Norway's oldest museums. It houses exhibitions centred on the development and history of the Norwegian military and home front, and also focuses on the local WWII history.

Laid out over three floors you can spend a few hours studying old swords, uniforms, and other fascinating artefacts. There are several nice dioramas used in the Exhibitions, and some of them are in 1:1 scale.

By the entrance there is a small museum shop where you can buy literature and also military items. There's no entrance fee and it is well worth a visit, so if you're ever around there, drop in!

Below is a slideshow that will give you a quick glance of some of the exhibition.
