Gebirgsjäger Luggage Tags

Once in a while when searching the gebirgsjäger camp neat little finds like a luggage tag turns up.

Over the years I have collected a small pile of such tags which were attached to the soldiers backpack. All of them looks to be "field made". Often a simple square metal tag with a drilled hole and fieldpostnumber, surname and town punched in.

I have also been lucky enough to find examples made from wood, plexiglass and leather.

Some of the ones I have found are well made, some more rough, a couple very deteriorated ones and a few unfinished tags.

Similar tags were produced to put on personal wooden crates and they are often having smaller holes in each corner for nails.
